Life is a Sandwich is a motto for Steve and Shelly. Just a couple in southwest Missouri who want to make sure they enjoy every bite of this delicious sandwich called life.
From Steve’s Blog – Things Happen – to help clarify a bit more about the whole sandwich idea…
The first time I heard one of my life mottos.
It was Oct. 2, 2002. I was in an oceanfront room in Virginia Beach. There was one guest on Letterman. After the show a friend and I had an online chat about that night.
The motto: “enjoy every sandwich”. My version: “enjoy every bite of ever sandwich.”
The entire quote from Warren Zevon: “You put more value on every minute, you do. I always thought I kind of did that. I really always enjoyed myself. But it’s more valuable now. You’re reminded to enjoy every sandwich and every minute of playing with the guys, and being with the kids and–”
There are lots of sandwiches in life – some pretty typical, some quite tasty, some pretty mundane, some expected, and some just downright nasty.
The type of sandwiches you will not find here:
You will find very little about grandkids – although ours are wonderful. Well they are mine really, I would win them in a custody battle. Steve inherited them – he has no biological grand kids of his own.
You will find very little about health issues – although we have a few. (Isn’t it stereotypical that old people go on and on about their health problems. A common bond it seems.) Well we aren’t going to chat about what ails us.
You will find very little about sex after 50 – although we think it’s important, go to the popular search engines and you will find page upon page about sex and dating.
What you will find are our favorite sandwiches.
Our look on life at this age
Our Music Obsession – well more Steve’s than Shelly’s. But she does love a good concert!
Our Crazy Ideas – This is more Shelly’s territory, but Steve is usually game for most.
It’s very simple really – enjoy every bite of every sandwich.
And just be
